Combined Federal Campaign Closing Event

Thank you, Brad [Campbell, Assistant Secretary for EBSA and 2007 CFC Vice Chair]. Good morning everyone!
I would like to begin by thanking Brad Campbell and his entire team for the tremendous job they've done this year with the Combined Federal Campaign.
Let me also thank Pat Pizzella [Assistant Secretary for OASAM] and his team for always putting together such a great closing celebration and awards program. I want to single out Thomasina McPhail, CFC Campaign Manager; Donna Childs, Co-Campaign Manager; Christine Donahue in EBSA; and each and every one of the CFC Coordinators. This is a tremendous undertaking each year, and we thank you for your dedication and your commitment.
Finally, let me thank the Potomac Job Corps Center for providing us with so many delicious sweets for our reception.
Once again — we have exceeded our goal! I am delighted to report that the Department's national office raised a total of $1,069,483 — more than $69,000 above our goal! That's a remarkable accomplishment! And later in the program, 23 DOL agencies will be recognized with CFC awards for their efforts.
In addition, DOL regional offices across the country contributed over $654,000.
The Department also can be proud of its 160 Eagle donors and 52 Double Eagles. Eagles contribute 1 percent of their paychecks each pay period, while Double Eagles contribute 2 percent. This is truly a wonderful milestone for the Department.
Because of all your efforts, the Department again qualified for the Million Dollar Circle Award — for raising over $1 million in contributions. This is the fourth time the Department has earned this meaningful tribute.
As former President and CEO of the United Way of America, I know how much these campaigns can make a difference in our communities. This campaign helps kids who need tutoring, the elderly who require assistance at home and many, many other worthy causes. There is truly something for everyone in the CFC catalog.
So once again, I would like to thank all of you for your hard work and commitment to producing this wonderful result. Through these donations, our DOL family is making a real difference for our neighbors, our communities and our country.
