Salem, Oregon - A health law compliance
assistance seminar, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee
Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) and the Oregon Insurance Division,
will take place October 18-19 in Salem at the Salem Conference Center.
The seminar is part of the Labor Department’s Health
Benefits Education Campaign, which helps workers and employers, especially
small businesses, understand their rights and obligations under various
health benefit laws.
As part of the department’s H-CAP – Health
Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) Compliance Assistance
Program -- there will be sessions covering Part 7 of the Employee
Retirement Income Security Act. Information also will be presented on
fiduciary responsibility, COBRA, Family and Medical Leave Act, health
savings accounts and HIPAA privacy.
Panel participants will include representatives from
EBSA, the Labor Department’s Employment Standards Administration, the
Oregon Insurance Division, the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services.
