Antonio F.: Learning Transferable Skills on the Job

Image of Antonio F.Through the Englewood/Sheridan School to Work Alliance Program funded in part by ODEP’s Colorado Youth Transition Grant, Antonio F., a new high school graduate, worked last summer at the Hudson Gardens and Events Center in Littleton, where he performed custodial and landscaping duties. In addition to gaining hands-on experience, he learned job skills that will transfer to future employment. This opportunity for Antonio, who has a learning disability, came about via the Colorado Workforce Development Council and the Office of Workforce Development, the recipient of the grant. Other partners supporting Antonio’s success include the Colorado Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Englewood School District and the Arapahoe/Douglas Works! Workforce Center.
