U.S. Department of Labor’s Partnerships for Compliance Assistance Program Re-opens

WASHINGTON— The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) today re-opened its Partnerships for Compliance Assistance Program (PCAP) by inviting national third-party nonprofit organizations to apply to become partners, along with the eight organizations currently in the program. PCAP partners help DOL promote greater awareness and compliance with federal employment laws and regulations administered by DOL. Participating PCAP organizations help spread the word about easy-to-access compliance assistance to help employers comply with federal labor laws and regulations.

“Helping employers understand their responsibilities and workers their rights is the best way to ensure workplace safety,” said Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao.  “Partnerships for Compliance Assistance is an important part of what the department does every day to promote and protect America's workforce.”

Organizations interested in exploring a compliance assistance partnership with DOL should visit www.dol.gov/compliance/partners for a copy of the Federal Register notice announcing the re-opening of PCAP. The Web site also provides additional information on PCAP including a list of current partners. Letters of interest should be responsive to the information requested in the PCAP notice and mailed to:

Barbara Bingham, Director
Office of Compliance Assistance Policy
Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy
U.S. Department of Labor
200 Constitution Ave NW, Room S-2312
Washington DC 20210

Organizations in PCAP are helping DOL inform business owners, managers and employees about available compliance assistance tools, including a toll-free help line (1-866-4-USA-DOL), a compliance assistance Web site (www.dol.gov/compliance), a set of Web-based compliance assistance tools called elaws Advisors and a comprehensive Employment Law Guide that offers an introduction to DOL's laws.
