WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs (OWCP) will host a meeting for authorized representatives, medical providers, claimants, advocates, unions, and any other parties interested in obtaining information about the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA). The meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at the U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C.

OWCP Director Julia Hearthway, as well as senior OWCP and Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC) staff, will participate.

While attendance is free, pre-registration is required. To reserve a spot, call DEEOIC’s Oak Ridge Resource Center at (866) 481-0411 by Friday, October 19, 2018. Attendees are responsible for their own meals, transportation, and hotel reservations.

“I look forward to this opportunity to hear the voices of the DEEOIC community,” said Julia Hearthway, OWCP Director. “We are all committed to workers who have become ill as a result of their work.”

Administered by DEEOIC, the EEOICPA provides compensation and medical benefits to employees whose work in the nuclear weapons industry made them ill. To date, the program has paid more than $15.4 billion in compensation and medical benefits nationwide. Meeting topics will include an overview of the DEEOIC program and a look at the duties of each Branch; a review of EEOICPA medical benefits and how they are managed; a peek at upcoming DEEOIC website changes; news of upcoming changes to the Energy program; and a session to answer any all attendee questions.

For additional information, contact DEEOIC’s Oak Ridge Resource Center at (866) 481-0411.
