Michele Hodge
Ms. Hodge serves as the Acting Director of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP). In this role she is responsible for the administration, direction, and program management of OFCCP. Ms. Hodge develops and formulates operating policies and procedures and directs the compliance and enforcement operations of this agency in terms of national policy as mandated by law and Executive Order. Ms. Hodge develops strategies, regulations, and orders to prevent discrimination in employment by government contractors and subcontractors including federally assisted construction contracts. Ms. Hodge serves as the Department of Labor’s representative and liaison officer with other federal departments and agencies having civil rights responsibilities under Executive Order 11246, Executive Order 11375, and the Civil Rights Act of 1964. She represents OFCCP at high level meetings and conferences with officials at other federal agencies, business and industry associations, and labor unions.
Ms. Hodge is a career member of the Senior Executive Service (SES) with a federal government career spanning 40 years rooted in civil rights. She has received numerous awards and honors, including the U.S. Department of Labor’s Exceptional Service Award. Prior to her current role, Ms. Hodge was the Deputy Director for OFCCP. In this position, she provided leadership and guidance to the agency’s SES Regional and Headquarter Division leaders. She also served as the Regional Director for the Mid-Atlantic Region, and the Deputy Regional Director and District Director in the Northeast Region. Ms. Hodge sets out policies, procedures, standards, rules and regulations, and the plans and priorities for all OFCCP program implementation.
Ms. Hodge is a highly regarded construction enforcement expert. Before joining the national office when serving as the Regional Director in the Mid-Atlantic Region, she negotiated the resolution of the agency’s most significant construction discrimination cases that resulted in unprecedented monetary relief and increased employment opportunities for women and people of color. Her expertise is proving invaluable as OFCCP strengthens its enforcement efforts on construction projects to promote an inclusive recovery as our nation makes historic infrastructure investments. Under her direction, OFCCP launched the Mega Construction Project Program. Through this program, OFCCP plays a key role in expanding access to good jobs in the construction trades on Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and CHIPS and Science Act-funded projects.
